EDUCATION

An engaged and passionate tutor, David Roche has been teaching students privately for over 15 years. Starting in his teenage years - working with friends and locals in his hometown - he is now highly in demand, providing professional, high-level education to a roster of 35-50 students per week. There are no stylistic barriers, lessons are as demanding or casual as desired, and the course of study is determined on a person by person basis. Teaching is incredibly important to David and he does it to the highest possible standards and results.

His students have gone on to study Music at the Royal College of Music, Leeds College of Music, King's College London, Britten Sinfonia Academy, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Dartington Summer School, and many other prestigious schools, universities, and courses. He also frequently works as a tutor and advisor in consultation with musicians and businesses, recommending best practices during the process of fulfilling professional-level projects (many of which have won national and international awards).

David works with a wide variety of students - public school, state school, academy, university, postgraduates, international, younger students, adult learners - and is happy to speak with anyone who would like to learn. There is no barrier. David also currently provides peripatetic teaching to Chesterton Community College and North Cambridge Academy.

Generally speaking, David teaches piano, classical guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, music theory, and composition. All grades and syllabuses are covered, from beginner to post-degree and professional levels. He frequently works as a consultant on professional projects and is as suited to unusual and challenging projects as he is to any committed student.

RATES:

Lesson fees depend on the difficulty of the work, the amount of preparation required, and the level and detailed required in the feedback. All students receive written reports at the end of every lesson. I am available for questions in between lessons. Post-pandemic, I will be happy to teach in person. I am fully equipped to teach online and am happy to take on non-UK students.

MU rates are my baseline, I am fully DBS checked. If price is a barrier, please still get in touch as I offer a number of free teaching slots every year (as in totally free, long-term teaching) - as I said, everyone is welcome!
